Ashleigh Benton is a freelance photojournalist from New Brunswick, whoe work focuses on the interrelation between human and non-human animals, issues surrounding non-human animal welfare, environmentalism, and the effects of the Anthropocene. Her area of study lends to her ardent interest in travel photography and portraiture, which critically engages and brings attention to issues of speciesism, ontological inequality and socio-environmental injustce.
Ashleigh studied Photography at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, receiving a bachelor of Fine Art. She is currently pursuing her masters degree in Anthrozoology from the University of Exeter, UK. Her work has been featured in publications such as The Globe and Mail and Vice Media.
